Tarboro/Edgecombe County Habitat for Humanity, Inc.
What is Habitat for Humanity? Tarboro/Edgecombe Habitat for Humanity, Inc. is a Christian housing ministry that helps families who don't qualify for traditional housing loans build and buy low-cost houses. Using volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds or fixes up houses with the help of people who will live in them.
The houses are sold to qualified families and are financed through affordable, no-interest loans. Monthly mortgage payments are used to support the construction of more houses for other families.
Habitat is not a give-away program! In addition to a down payment and monthly house payments, new homeowners must invest hundreds of hours helping to build their house and the houses of others.
How do I know if I qualify for a Habitat for Humanity house? To qualify for a Habitat house, you must :

How can I help the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity? Our local chapter is responding to the immediate needs created by the devastation from hurricane Floyd by setting a goal to build 12 new houses during the calendar year of 2000. Many positive initiatives are being explored at this time. We have completed 2 houses and are in the process of building our third house. Cash donations can be mailed to the above address. We are in the process of accepting applications and acquiring suitable building sites in Edgecombe County for future houses.
